Emily-EstesOwner Emily Estes, LPTA, LMT, Watsu Practitioner, Barnes Myofascial Release Practitioner, Craniosacral Therapist

I was a journalist for many years before following my passion to work in the healing profession of Physical Therapy. Upon graduation from Newbury College in 1991, I worked as a licensed physical therapist assistant (LPTA) in many areas: inpatient hospital care, long term skilled nursing, private outpatient clinics, home health.

I owned Deep Brook Wellness Center in Warwick, RI until 2002. Prior to that I was the Aquatic Director for Ri Rehabilitation in Cranston, RI for ten years.

I have been an aquatic body worker and Watsu™ practitioner since 1996. I trained with Minakshi in the Florida Keys and Watsu originator, Harold Dull, at the School of Shiatsu & Massage, Harbin Hot Springs, California. I received my massage therapy certification from the School of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin in 2004 and have completed 100s of hours in continuing education in Upledger Craniosacral Therapy, St. John's Neuromuscular Massage Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Pilates and Yoga .

In my experience, Watsu™ is one of the most unique and profoundly relaxing modalities available in the world today. I feel blessed to offer it and share it. For more information on watsu please visit www.waba.edu.

My Myofascial Release training with John Barnes, PT, has added new depth and dimensions to my work. I believe it is the most effective and powerful healing therapy I've ever experienced. Barnes' MFR is a wholistic approach that releases "stuck" fascia (hot, hard or tender areas in the body). It also helps relieve congestion in the lymphatic system while allowing clients to feel deeply and address tissue memories and emotional pain.

Since 2010 I have completed 10 courses with John and just returned from MFR III in Sedona, AZ. I now have the privledge of saying I am an "expert" MFR therapist.   For more information on John Barnes Myofascial Release Therapy please visit www.myofascialrelease.com.
